Make a difference.As a Tax Accountant – Tax Systems you will manage underlying tax data in support of state sales and income tax return filings, state sales and income tax audits, and miscellaneous other related analytical work.In this role you will:
- Provide support for critical tax systems, related system reporting, and applicable tax data analytics.
- Develop and design reporting to assist with tax filings, tax audits, and tax planning.
- Stay abreast of and inform Corporate and District personnel of changes in the law, tax rates, etc. and rates of sales taxes.
- Assist in preparing, tracking, and filing state sales and/or income tax returns with payments; resolve issues with state and local taxing authorities.
- Assist in the management of Company sales tax exemption certificates.
- Assist in balancing corporate tax general ledger accounts.
- Research tax issues related to state tax accounts with State Departments of Revenue and related taxing authorities.
- Monitor compliance with corporate tax policies and procedures and make recommendations for process improvements.
What you bring to the table:
- 3 years’ experience: Tax or Accounting.4-5 years’ experience preferred.
- Four-year degree. Advanced degree: MBA, MST, or CPA candidate preferred.
- Vertex Certified or Vertex Certification candidate preferred.
- Knowledge of taxes and related legislation
- Knowledge of audit data requirements and related support
- Knowledge of state sales and income tax filing forms
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Vertex/Insource Tax Software platforms
- Return, estimate, and tax calculation preparation skills
- Mathematical skills
- Organizational skills
- Communication skills
- Ability to recognize problems with data inconsistencies and develop/implement corrective solutions
- Ability to stay current in state tax laws
- Ability to be detail oriented and multitask
- Ability to meet deadlines on monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
- Ability to coordinate tax payment remittances
- Ability to be efficient in the construction of tax audit work papers and files
Pay Details:The expected range of pay for this position is $60,000 – $70,000 annually.
