Specialty Nurse Coordinator (Urology)

Nemours is seeking a Urology Specialty Nurse Coordinator, Full-Time, to join our Nemours Children’s Hospital team in Orlando, Florida.Located in Orlando, Fla., Nemours Children’s Hospital is the newest addition to the Nemours integrated healthcare system. Our 100-bed pediatric hospital also features the area’s only 24-hour Emergency Department designed just for kids as well as outpatient pediatric clinics including several specialties previously unavailable in the region. In keeping with our goal of bringing Nemours care into the communities we serve; we also provide specialty outpatient care in several clinics located throughout the region.The Urology Specialty Nurse Coordinator is responsible for an area of specialized nursing practice and provides direct and indirect care to patients and their families in both the ambulatory and hospital settings. Responsibilities are related to urology outpatient clinics, urodynamic procedures and include assisting with inpatient patient care and discharge teaching, triaging phone calls, , and participating in clinical research projects of the Division. The Urology Specialty Nurse Coordinator will act as a resource for the Spina Bifida program.This position is responsible for the following:

  • Serves as the primary point of contact and information gate keeper for all patients managed within the Spina Bifida Program.
  • Utilizes and promotes use of NCH guidelines, policies, and standards of professional organization (AORN) in conducting patient care.
  • Identifies individual patient’s needs to achieve the best clinical results utilizing evidence-based research.
  • Develops and monitors a plan of care through an interdisciplinary approach with other clinical team members.
  • Assists with development and implementation of department quality service plans and process improvement. Assists in the monitoring and analysis of processes and patient outcomes. Evaluates change outcomes and redirects as needed.
  • Acts as a primary resource regarding new equipment, forms, methods, care delivery, and/or computers in the clinic and educates fellow staff accordingly.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact and information gate keeper for all patients managed within the Spina Bifida program.
  • Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by employee’s supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience required.
  • American Heart Association BLS Certification required.
  • Current Florida RN License in good standing.
  • CPN preferred.
