The Senior Accountant under the leadership of the Accounting Manager is responsible for general ledger accounting functions, including fixed asset accounting. This role involves ensuring the accuracy of financial data recorded, compliance with accounting standards, and timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, exceptional analytical skills, and experience in managing complex financial transactions.As a Senior Accountant you will:
- Execute a Monthly Close of the General Ledger for Gulf States Toyota and maintain the close schedule.
- Prepare journal entries for Month End Close. Make materiality decisions on close entries.
- Compare the actual results to the budgeted results and provide variance explanations on a monthly basis.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts in a timely fashion; resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.
- Manage and maintain the fixed asset register, ensuring accurate tracking of all capital expenditures.
- Record asset acquisitions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation; ensure compliance with capitalization policies and procedures.
- Maintain well-documented workpapers and instructions for journal entries, account reconciliations and system processes.
- Analyze monthly and year-end financial data to ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Assist in reviewing or preparing ancillary audit schedules, audit footnotes and tax schedules.
- Research and resolve accounting transaction questions and other business unit issues in an agreed upon timeframe.
- Perform on special projects.
What We Need From You
- Bachelor’s Degree with 5 – 8 years of experience in the field or in a related area or possess an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Hands on experience with SAP S4/Hana, including Financial Accounting Module Preferred
- ‘Big Four’ accounting firm experience Preferred
- Proficient in effective communication (both oral and written)
- Proficient in change management (promote, coordinate, and support)
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems, tools, and processes
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Thrives in environments where goals, processes or strategies may not be clearly defined
- Excellent attention to details and organizational skills
- Strong Excel skills, including data validation and complex formula based calculations
- Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve system issues in SAP and ERP environment
