We are seeking a skilled Senior Accountant to oversee the month-end and year-end close for our dynamic companies. In this role, you will be integral to managing journal entries, preparing accurate financial statements, and ensuring balance sheet reconciliations are completed with precision. You will also lead the annual audit process, coordinate intercompany accounts, and handle sales commission preparations. This is a full-time, hybrid (4 days a week in office) position.Job Responsibilities:
- Support the month-end close and year-end close processes for both companies, including creating, reviewing, and posting journal entries
- Assist the Controller with preparing accurate monthly and annual financial statements. Perform variance analysis and investigate discrepancies to ensure financial accuracy
- Conduct monthly reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts, including roll-forwards. Research and resolve account variances to maintain accurate financial records
- Assist in managing the annual audit process for Pacific Coast Sales & Service. Serve as a point of contact for the external audit firm, and compile and provide required schedules and backup documentation.
- Track and reconcile the intercompany payable/receivable account balances on a monthly basis
- Prepare monthly and year-end sales commissions for sales team members in multiple departments
- Provide detailed analysis reports for accounts in question by the management
- Review business processes to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. Make recommendations for improvements where needed, especially automation of manual processes
- Ensure consistent application of accounting policies and practices company wide. Review current policies and make recommendations for improvements
- Undertake special projects as assigned, contributing to various initiatives and improvements as needed
- Reports directly to the company Controller. Reports indirectly to the CFO, to the General Manager, and to other department managers as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 5+ years of experience in accounting and finance
- Public accounting experience and CPA are strongly preferred
- Experience with GP (Great Plains) is required
- Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail is critical to this role
- Strong knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Ability to interact with all levels of management
- Strong Excel experience
- Excellent organizational skills
