- PhD or equivalent degree qualification (or a Master’s degree qualification in special cases) in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized university.
- A person with a Master’s degree (and without PhD) must have at least three (3) years of teaching experience in the relevant field at the university level and be registered for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent Doctoral degree qualification.
- A minimum of 24 publication points as per the CUE Standards & Guidelines, 2014 of which at least sixteen (16) should be refereed journal papers.
- Registered with the relevant professional body, where applicable.
Assistant Professor
- A PhD. or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant area from an accredited University.
- At least 3 years’ teaching/research experience at the university level as a Lecturer/Research Fellow.
- A minimum of thirty two (32) publication points a Lecturer/Research Fellow as per the CUE Standards & Guidelines, 2014, of which at least twenty four (24) should be from refereed scholarly journals.
- Supervised at least four (4) postgraduate students to completion as Lecturer/Research Fellow;
- Been registered by the relevant professional body, where applicable.
Associate Professor
- A Ph.D. or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant area from an accredited University.
- At least 3 years’ teaching/research experience at the university level as a Senior Lecturer, Assistant Professor or Senior Research Fellow.
At least forty-eight (48) publication points as a Senior Lecturer/Senior Research Fellow/Assistant Professor as per the CUE Standards & Guidelines, 2014, of which thirty-two (32) should be from referred scholarly journals.
- Supervised at least five (5) postgraduate students to completion, including one doctoral student.
- Attracted research funds as a Senior Lecturer, Assistant Professor or Senior Research Fellow.
Professor
- A Ph.D. or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant area from an accredited University.
- At least 3 years’ teaching and research experience since being appointment at the rank of Associate Professor/Associate Research Professor.
- At least sixty (60) equivalent publication points as per the CUE Standards & Guidelines, 2014 of which at least forty (40) should be from referred scholarly journals since attaining Associate Professorship.
- Supervised at least six (6) postgraduate students to completion, two of whom must be doctoral students.
- Attracted research funds since attaining the rank of Associate Professor.
