The Accountant is a full-time position reporting to the Controller and assisting the Vice President for Business and Finance.Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • The collection of University grant revenue and reconciliation of related general ledger accounts to include budget and audit preparation;
  • Providing analytical and management support for financial activities related to grants;
  • Performing billing and accounts receivable follow-up for assigned grants;
  • Assisting with financial grant reports and requests for granting authorities, internal audits, and external audits as needed;
  • Reviewing and monitoring individual grants and transactions for compliance with local, state, and federal requirements;
  • Coordinating with the Financial Assistance Department in the reconciliation and reporting of federal loan and grant funds, including monitoring federal work study funds;
  • Assisting with the compiling of year-end financial statements, including the University Radio Station;
  • Assisting faculty and staff in interpreting financial data;
  • Reviewing invoices and travel requests;
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Controller or Vice President for Business and Finance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years or more of relevant experience.

  • Must be able to comprehend and interpret policies, procedures, and regulations and communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to perform problem solving and decision-making as well as maintain effective working relationships.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Two years or more of accounting and/or higher education experience.

  • Knowledge of computer based enterprise resource planning systems and a thorough understanding of higher education administration.

SALARY RANGE:
