Accountant

Ascendo Resources is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to work on behalf of one of our valued clients. In this client-based role, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the client’s financial records, ensuring accurate reporting, and supporting their overall financial operations. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, providing essential accounting services while fostering strong client relationships.Key Responsibilities:

  • General Ledger Management: Maintain and update the client’s general ledger by accurately recording journal entries for transactions, including revenue, expenses, and other financial activities.
  • Account Reconciliation: Perform monthly reconciliations of client bank accounts, credit cards, and other accounts to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process client invoices, monitor accounts payable/receivable, ensure timely payments, and manage client cash flow. Address discrepancies and communicate with vendors/customers.
  • Month-End & Year-End Close: Assist the client in completing monthly and yearly close processes, including adjusting journal entries, account analyses, and variance reviews.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports) according to GAAP standards, customized to meet the client’s business needs.
  • Client Audit Support: Provide necessary documentation and respond to inquiries for external and internal audits on behalf of the client, ensuring a smooth audit process.
  • Tax Compliance Support: Assist the client with the preparation and review of tax filings, such as sales tax and other regulatory filings, to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Support clients in creating and monitoring budgets, conducting variance analysis, and offering strategic financial advice to improve performance.
  • Expense Tracking & Analysis: Track client expenses, ensuring compliance with budget guidelines, and provide insights into potential areas for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
  • Process Improvement: Work closely with the client to streamline and improve their accounting processes and financial operations for enhanced accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 2 plus years of accounting experience, preferably with experience in a client-facing or public accounting role.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or client-specific systems).
  • Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple client accounts with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with the Ascendo Resources team and client contacts.

Preferred:

  • CPA certification or working toward CPA licensure is a plus.
  • Prior experience working with external clients in a consulting or accounting firm.
