The Senior Accountant will manage and oversee all aspects of accounting for the U.S. entity, from processing initial documents to monthly reporting, ensuring timely and accurate financial outcomes. This position is responsible for maintaining compliance with US GAAP and IFRS standards and upholding robust financial controls. Key duties include managing daily accounting operations, overseeing U.S. tax compliance, and delivering financial analyses to aid strategic decisions. This role demands full ownership of the accounting processes.
- Take charge of all accounting activities for U.S. operations, including managing general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll (including allocation and monitoring of fringe benefits), supervising business travel expenses, approving expense reimbursements, and handling customer collections.
- Produce and evaluate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Conduct timely reconciliation of accounts and resolve any discrepancies. Maintain detailed financial records and ledgers.
- Reconcile bank statements with cash reports monthly.
- Efficiently execute month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Develop and implement accounting policies specific to the U.S. entity, covering areas such as revenue recognition, asset capitalization, and depreciation.
- Collaborate with the HQ corporate accounting team to ensure accurate accounting and reporting, responding to ad-hoc queries in alignment with group accounting standards.
- Identify and act on opportunities for process enhancement; play a key role in designing and introducing new systems and procedures.
- Coordinate and liaise with external auditors during financial audits.
- Oversee the preparation and review of tax filings, ensuring compliance with all tax laws and deadlines.
- Evaluate and strengthen internal controls, including conducting risk assessments and reviewing potential risk areas.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or Big 4 experience is highly preferred.
- At least 5 years of industry accounting experience, with a strong preference for experience in B2B SaaS.
- At least 3 years of relevant public accounting experience, ideally with B2B SaaS clients.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and advanced MS Excel/Google Sheets skills are required; familiarity with Microsoft Business Central is a plus.
- Revenue recognition and payroll calculation experience are strongly preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP and IFRS.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a proactive, positive can-do attitude.
- Proven ability to develop, implement, and interpret accounting and financial policies, management systems, and reporting procedures.
- Capability to work autonomously with minimal oversight and collaboratively in a team setting.
- Experience with Maxio (SaaS optics), Payhawk, Bill.com, and Gusto is desirable.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects to timely completion.
