Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, this position will maintain a combination of onsite and remote work or hybrid work schedule. Remote work is evaluated periodically to ensure business needs are being met and can be adjusted at any time. Please visit the state’s website for more information.What you will do as a member of the ODVA teamThis position will plan, organize, coordinate, and facilitate functions of the General Accounting Unit, including training and special assignments. This position will work with the Department of Administrative Services in creating, improving, and testing programs for the new Statewide Financial Management System (SFMA). This position is responsible for coordinating and developing procedures for implementation of all input to the various accounting systems. This position explains new programs to accounting staff and will work with the other accounting personnel to establish new account numbers, new procedures, and improved accounting programs, etc., for the SFMA. This position oversees that all payments and documents that affect loan balances and Veterans’ Home accounts are posted correctly and is responsible for various other activities, such as the storage and recording of accounting records for archives, reconciling various records, and entering all accounting entries online into SFMA.For the full list of specific duties and working conditions, see the Position Description by clicking :MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Possession of a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Government Financial Manager certificate AND three years of accounting experience equivalent to Accountant 2 work to include designing and modifying accounting systems that require frequent changes in requirements to meet specific business objectives, consulting with program managers or external organizations, and assuring the proper functioning and accountability of fiscal operations; ORA Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or in any discipline that includes or is supplemented by 32 quarter (21 semester) credit hours from an accredited institution in Accounting AND three years of related accounting experience equivalent to Accountant 2 work to include designing and modifying accounting systems that require frequent changes in requirements to meet specific business objectives, consulting with program managers or external organizations, and ensuring the proper functioning and accountability of fiscal operations; OR32 quarter (21 semester) credit hours from an accredited institution in Accounting AND five years of related accounting experience to include a) classifying, analyzing, and reconciling complex financial data and records; b) designing, recommending, and installing modifications of accounting methods, procedures, forms, and records; c) preparing audited financial statements and reports; d) analyzing and interpreting laws, regulations, codes, and ordinances to ensure the legality of financial transactions; and e) analyzing and interpreting complex accounts and account relationships resulting in accounting entries.15 quarter (10 semester) graduate-level accounting credit hours may substitute for one year of the accounting experience. Graduate-level courses used to satisfy the educational requirement may not be used to satisfy the experience requirement.REQUESTED SKILLS:Preference may be given to applicants that can demonstrate:

  • Proficient with Excel
  • Experience with State of Oregon accounting software
  • Written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to analyze and solve accounting issues
