Internship, Foreign Affairs, Editorial, Fall 2024

Overview:All who are selected to participate in CFR’s Blavatnik Internship Program and Robina Franklin Williams Internship Program receive training in the field of foreign policy and international affairs as well as skills training in writing, research, program planning and much more.Foreign Affairs magazine has an internship opening in the Editorial Department. The intern will have the unique opportunity to see the inner workings of a major magazine and foreign policy journal.CFR internships are paid, require a 14 – 18 hour commitment, and are filled on a rolling basis.Please note that all internships are offered on a hybrid (half in the office, half remote) or fully remote basis. All internships are paid positions (no exceptions can be made on this). As such, all interns must have the legal right to work in the United States and be based in the United States for the duration of the internship. The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to)::

  • Researching and commissioning articles for foreignaffairs.com
  • Updating archival content on website
  • Assisting with social media promotion and newsletter layout
  • Copy editing and fact-checking
  • Staging articles on foreignaffairs.com
  • Attending Council meetings as time permits

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate student with concentration in political science, international affairs, journalism, or related field
  • All applicants should have completed the equivalent of four semesters of college coursework (not including AP classes in high school) by the time they begin an internship
  • Demonstrated interest in journalism and online publishing; past relevant internship experience preferred
  • Strong writing, editing, and Internet skills
  • Knowledge of Drupal is a plus
